So we feel honored to participate in this special menu, created and curated by Chef Tomás, to highlight the essence of mezcal, in a romantic dance between mexican spirits and gastronomy.

Lágrimas preview party

Join the Lágrimas preview party the evening of Monday, November 6: 7-9PM. $15 gets you:

– A Chiqui, rare, mezcalito.
– A cocktail from Lágrimas menu.
– A few snacks from Lágrimas menu.

Lágrimas opens upstairs at ABV on November 9th and will be open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for 2 seatings. One at 6:30 and another at 9. Each costs $75 plus tax and gratuity for 5+ courses of Mexican food and Tequila or Mezcal cocktails.

To celebrate world Mezcal week on Sunday the 5th of November Alipus Mezcal and four of Melbourne’s finest Mexican restaurants present the Alipus Mezcal Trail.

The idea, four different Alipus Mezcal cocktails all hand matched with four dishes. One night only! Each cocktail and matched dish will set you back only $20.

Each attendee will receive their own Mezcal Passport that they have to get stamped once visiting each of the venues along the Mezcal trail. Once completed they hand their passport back at the last venue they visit to go into the draw to win one of four $100 vouchers from each of the participating venues.

The goal, to expose more of the general public to our favourite spirit.

Mezcal Experience at Xico

At Xico we want guests to get excited about mezcal like we do! Xico Chef Kelly Myers was tasked with crafting small bites that pair well with three different mezcals. We started with three espadins and here’s what she came up with:

  • Amaras Espadin is paired with grilled fresh local figs served with, pickled grapes, drizzled with cascabel chile honey.
  • Wahaka Espadin is paired with manchego cheese topped with pickled chipotle meco and onion.
  • Fidencio Sin Humo (Unico) is paired with mussels pickled in champagne vinegar, ginger, serrano chile & allspice.

We want everyone to try this offering from Chef Myers, so we offer two sizes:

  • Three 1/2oz pours for $18.50
  • Three 1oz pours for $29.
  • Xico works closely with its farmers and only uses locally sourced produce. Ingredients in the above offerings are subject to change.

    Mezcal Gives You Wings at Vida Verde

    Vida Verde will be hosting a week long series of collaborations with mezcal brands to showcase and educate our guests on mezcal and agave based spirits while enjoying our contemporary Mexican fare.
